Through dedicated efforts such as veteran-centered education for our staff and volunteers, we strive to continuously deliver compassionate, personalized care, honoring those who bravely served in their time and whom we are privileged to serve now.
VitalCaring Hospice is honored to join We Honor Veterans, a program created by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This program is dedicated to understanding and meeting the unique end-of-life care needs of our nation’s veterans.
Through our partnership with We Honor Veterans, VitalCaring Hospice has achieved level three recognition. As part of this collaboration, we have implemented several initiatives, including:

On May 24, 2024, VFW District 8 Commander Alvino Sosa, District 8 Chaplain Anna Wambolt and Vital Caring Group conducted a pinning ceremony for Grady Walker, Air Force Vietnam Veteran of Grand Bay AL. Commander Sosa presented Grady with a VFW challenge coin on behalf of all VFW members of District 8, Alabama. VitalCaring presented him with a pin and a certificate honoring his military service.
Alvino Sosa, a VitalCaring hospice volunteer, has been a dedicated VFW member since April 2022 and holds the esteemed title of Bronze Legacy Life member at Gaston-Lee VFW Post 5660 in Fairhope, Alabama. Having served as Trustee and Senior Vice Commander, he is now in his second term as District 8 Commander. Alvino is also a Life member of the Fleet Reserve Association in Jacksonville,
Alvino’s military career is truly remarkable. He served honorably in the United States Navy for 34 years, from July 1968 to September 2002, primarily with Special Boat Units in Coronado, CA, and Little Creek, VA. His units provided crucial support to Navy SEAL teams worldwide. Throughout his career, Alvino earned numerous awards, including the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with a “V” for valor, Combat Action Ribbon, and many campaign and personal awards.
