Hospice Services

When a loved one has experienced an advanced or life-limiting illness, hospice care is often the right next step in the healthcare journey. Our hospice team is specially trained to provide the physical, mental, and spiritual support to patients and their families. Our focus is to ensure our patients achieve the best possible quality of life with dignity, peace and comfort during the last stages of life.

Delivering compassionate, comprehensive care

VitalCaring’s hospice services provide much-needed support during an emotionally challenging time.

Hospice services may include skilled nursing care for pain and symptom management, as well as nonclinical assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and grooming. Hospice can help with obtaining and setting up medical equipment, supplies, and medication. Other services – including spiritual and emotional support, companionship, and assistance with light housekeeping – can make all the difference. Services include:

  • Skilled nursing care with on-call service 24/7 and 365 days a year
  • Expert management of pain and other distressing symptoms
  • Setup of in-home care settings
  • Emotional and spiritual support

  • Assistance with activities of daily living
  • Companionship
  • Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and dietary support
  • Comprehensive bereavement support for families

Caring Through Teamwork

VitalCaring’s interdisciplinary team of clinicians and other healthcare professionals works closely together to coordinate care and services and provide guidance and support. Our specially trained team meets with patients and their family members to determine goals and plan of care, designed to help the patient to live as fully as possible while remaining comfortable at home surrounded by their loved ones. Our team is committed to ensuring hospice services are implemented in an environment of compliance, quality and excellence.

Our Medical Director provides oversight of the hospice team and is available to consult with the patient’s physician.

Nurses offer specialized knowledge and experience in the management of pain and other symptoms and are available to address all hospice concerns 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Social Workers provide emotional support to patients and families including identifying local services and resources for additional support.

Spiritual Counselors and chaplains are available to support the patient and family’s personal beliefs and traditions, regardless of religious affiliation.

Hospice Aides assist with bathing, other personal care needs, and helping the patient with any activity or exercise needs. They may also attend to light household chores such as making beds, preparing meals, and doing laundry, as well as other tasks as assigned by the nurse.

Volunteers offer a compassionate and caring presence to the patients, family, and caregivers as well as providing the necessary organizational and administrative work to that supports the overall hospice program.

Bereavement Counselors are available for support and assistance to family members during hospice care and through the first year of bereavement.

Your amazing staff were there for me, and my dad last year during his final moments, and I can’t thank you enough for being so compassionate toward him, my sister, and I.  It was a very difficult time for sure as no one ever expects this kind of thing to happen, but your staff went above, and beyond, with helping to take care of my dad.  I looked forward to each day when someone from your group in Flowood, MS would come up for a bit.  I got to personally meet most of them in person, but the ones I didn’t get to meet face to face were wonderful as well with their compassion.  Carolyn was a blessing to dad while he was in the hospital still with the evaluation.  I messaged with Sara many times, and always received words of encouragement that helped.  Vanessa was able to stop by and be there for us all.  Valorie was a blessing as well while visiting several times.  Kira was there often to help keep dad stable with his declining health.  Jazmine was able to stop by to help keep dad presentable.  And Pastor Scott was a true blessing in helping comfort dad by relieving the mental anguish that he was going through at that time.  I’m so thankful that Pastor Scott was able to take the time to drive so far out of the way to preside over dad’s funeral service.  That meant so much to me for being able to do that.

I hate for the reason on how I got to meet such wonderful people, but I’m so blessed that everyone was there for dad, myself, and my sister, during that very difficult time.  I appreciate everyone there, and love the caring service that each one brought to my house.  Thank you all for such a wonderful team of thoughtful people.  There aren’t any words in any language to properly convey my appreciation to everyone.  I hope that this message can find its way to the group there.  I looked for a way to email to them, but didn’t see one at the time I searched.  I apologize for the book message here that I sent.  Thank you again, and may everyone there be blessed with happiness, peace, health, safety, and longevity.

– David
